The Local Daily Deals Battle For Your Shopping Dollars

What’s up webfolk? The last time I posted here for the shopping blog I was talking about some of the most popular voucher deals on Living Social a daily deals site. Well in case you were not aware of it the competition to be the go to site for hot daily deal shopping is getting pretty crowded with competitors.

Living Social and Groupon are at this moment in time two of the more popular places to get the latest local daily deals either on your computer or on your smart phone. To get a real grasp of how crazy the daily deal business has become you should check out this site called Daily Deals Media. In case that is not enough to convince you of how big this market is becoming let me give you a brief history lesson in what has just recently happened within the last year.

Late last year Google was making a big to buy Groupon for $6 billion dollars however the deal did not get done so what did Google do? They decided that since they could not buy into the market that they would just start up their own deal of the day site. Check out this video that they released earlier this year talking about Google Offers.

It may not be in your area yet but you can be pretty much assured that it will be coming eventually with all the money that Google can throw behind that thing. That’s not to say that some of the smaller companies like Living Social who is not so small anymore as they are in 23 different countries now. Also Google is not standing still either as they earlier this month purchased another popular deal site called The Dealmap which in the matter of one year had gained over 2 million unique users. That kind of growth speaks volumes as to how this deal a day market is just exploding taking advantage of people’s desire to save money, especially in this messed up economy.

Until next time, kudos to you peruser ;-)

Dave
