When it comes to gadget shopping do you find yourself burning a hole in your wallet when the media frenzy over the latest new gadget gets to a certain point. For example would you really be considering a new iPhone if you had just but the last version only a few months before the new one came out. Does it frustrate you when companies like Apple continue to make minor upgrades to products year after year. Releasing new versions of gadget with the obvious intention of getting you to buy the very same product you just bought only a year ago?
A great example of this happening to the gadget consumer yet again is the new PSP 3000. This is the latest version of the Sony hand held gaming unit that was just announced to the media with a release date of October 14th. Well guess what the PSP 2000 was only released to public less than a year from that date.
I say WTF! Is there really that much of difference between the PSP version that was released last year to this new PSP that is due to come out later this year? A new LCD screen and a microphone added. Does that really warrant them changing the SKU in less than a year. Already seeing a lot of comments on gaming blogs of people that are upset that they just bought a PSP 2000 like a month ago and now this announcement comes and they want to return the PSP they just bought.
What is that addiction that lies in the gadget shopper than eggs us on to always have the latest and greatest version of our favorite tech toy. Big companies know that gadget buyers are compulsive when it comes to having the latest technology. They know it and they market and milk us dry for every penny we can gather up to get that next great tech toy.
Don’t get me wrong now I right there with all the rest of you gotta have it gadget freaks. Can’t get enough of them for sure. Just some times I wonder if I have an addiction to tech toys problem and if I should try and do something about it or just accept this little expensive personality trait as my own little demon. Yep I would have to agree with what your probably thinking as well my own little demon that is having a blast with every new gadget he convinces me to buy
